Excursion Trips (14-17)

Teens are drawn to YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya Teen Camps, not just to participate in awesome outdoor adventures in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan's wilderness, but for the thrill of personal achievement and team success. Extreme trips cover more than just cool terrain and waterways, they’re personal journeys that bring out the best each teen has to offer.

Excursion Trips are for our oldest and most seasoned campers.  These trips are tailored for campers ages 14-17 and have a variety of intensity levels.  Our experienced staff act as guides; facilitating high adventure with an emphasis on leadership and teamwork.  These camps are two weeks in duration (except the U.P. Mystery Car Trip) and offer a unique opportunity for campers to engage the wilderness like never before.  These camps are specialized adventure programs that fill up fast!  You’ll want to register as early as possible to secure your spot!

All campers on Excursion Trips must have completed a physical performed by a physician within 12 months prior to their trip. A copy of the completed physical should be sent to: "YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, Attn: Business Manager, 12101 Y Camp Rd, Suring WI, 54174" after registration.

Isle Royale Backpacking | June 18-30

Explore a rugged, isolated island, far from the sights and sounds of civilization.  Over 200 square miles of unparalleled solitude and adventure for backpackers as they hike ridges, valleys, and rocky shorelines.  This trip is becoming a tradition at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, including a celebratory banquet upon return.

Rocks & Rapids Canoe, Hike, Rafting Combo | July 9-21

A camp favorite has been improved!  Campers will get to explore the famous Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island on Lake Superior, Big Island Lake Wilderness, and cap it all off with a whitewater rafting trip down the Peshtigo River.  Experienced campers will have a blast enjoying the constant adventure!

Nor'Wester | July 23- August 4 | Ages 15 - 17

The cornerstone trip of Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.  Nine days of paddling the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, deeply rooted and celebrated traditions, and lifelong bonds only begin to describe the experience this trip brings to campers.  Family and friends are invited to honor them upon return at camp.

Da' U.P. Mystery Tour | August 6-11

Our only one-week excursion.  Teens will get to experience much of the natural beauty of Upper Michigan, as well as some of the lesser known oddities that it has to offer.  This trip offers a great chance to build new friendships and come home with fun stories to tell.
