 Year Round Staff

Max - Executive Director of Camping Services

The Clarks

Years at U-Nah-Li-Ya: 7 Years

Hey there! I have been serving the YMCA Camping Community for over 17 years. Getting my start as a camper at YMCA Camp Jackson in Colorado, I developed a deep appreciation for the wilderness experience and camaraderie that camp provided me. I have a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. I have always believed that relationships play a key role in a camper's experience and that resilience is built through challenging, safe, engaging programming. I live at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya year-round with my wife and 2 young children, we can all be caught at our various family program weekends. My favorite thing about camp is that it provides kids with the opportunity to engage in outdoor wilderness experiences.

Kathy - Office Manager

Years at U-Nah-Li-Ya: 8 Years

I began my career working in education where I gained a wide variety of experience in organizational management and human resources. My two children grew up attending camp and I was able to watch them grow and flourish with each experience. During my time at U-Nah-Li-Ya I have been able to use my work experience to provide resources that support camp in achieving its mission of "Improving the World through Improving People" and allowing every kid to get the camp experience they deserve. My favorite part of camp is coming in every morning and seeing all of the kids smiling and happy.

Paul  - Property Manager

Time at U-Nah-Li-Ya: 3 Years

I was born and raised in Wisconsin about 30 miles from Camp Unahliya. As a child I had the opportunity to attend camp several times while in grade school. I thought it was a fantastic place back then, and never dreamed I’d be working here later on in life. I joined the Y’s Men club in 2018 and volunteered time to the camp at the work weekends. Earlier in 2019 I was hired on as the Property Manager. It’s more than a full time job with 32 plus buildings and structures to maintain. But it’s for the kids. And we here in facilities and property maintenance are a happy people, and we are here to help. When I see all the happy smiling kids it reminds me of my youth when I was here years ago.

Winter/Spring Season Staff

Cali G.

cali

Yo! My name is Cali, I have been working at Unie since 2019 but this is my first season of Outdoor Ed! I absolutely love working with kids here at camp and learning just as much from them as they learn from us. I have a background in Theology and Environmental Science from Viterbo University, I love learning about fashion history, and my favorite artist is Justin Bieber.

Brad G.

Hey Unie, I’m Brad and this is my second season teaching Outdoor Environmental Education. I love everything about nature from animals to the rocks beneath our feet, but I have a soft spot for anything about water. So much so, I went to college for Fisheries and Water Resources. I even wrote the lake management plan for Chute Pond before I started working here.

Loonie Unie! I am SOOOO happy to be returning to U-Nah-Li-Ya this year as the Summer Camp Director. Now my son is almost two and the whole family will be spending the summer in Wisconsin! I love campfires, mountain biking, and kayaking. My goal this summer is to develop incredible staff who will provide your campers with a safe, formative, and memorable summer camp experience. I truly believe that summer camp makes the world a better place and I can't wait to serve your families this summer.

Hi fellow Unie lovers! I am so beyond excited to be back at camp this summer! This will be my third summer here! I love any and everything to do with the outdoors!  My ultimate goal is to spread that love to everyone I can! Camping, hiking, campfires, and star gazing are just a few of my favorite things to do! Currently, I am a preschool teacher at YWCA in Green Bay, but I have decided to take a break and head back to camp for the summer! I have been a counselor, the Marksmanship Director, and now I am so grateful to take on the role of assistant summer camp director! I am thrilled to see what Unie has in store for everyone this year! I can’t wait to see you all out there ‘On The Loose’!

Helllooooo Looney Unie!!! My name is Aubrie and I have been coming to camp before I could walk! I basically live and breathe camp! I have been a camper, teen, tripper, resident counselor, and lumber jack for those who know during summer 2019! :) I’m so jazzed to come back and be the Girls Camp Director this summer! I’m currently in the Secondary Education Social Studies program at UW- Milwaukee. My passion is to work with kids, especially in an outdoor education field which is why I love camp! I love to go thrifting, canoeing, hanging out with my animals, and especially camping! I can't wait to see what this summer brings with returning campers and new campers and all of the wonderful experiences we’ll have making friends out on the loose!

Mitch T.

Mitch T. - Boys Camp Director

Hey Camp Unahliya! I have been lucky to be involved with camp once I was old enough to go. I have always enjoyed the experiences offered at camp. In prior summers I have worked briefly on trail, resident staff, and as a teen leadership counselor. I am proud to be involved with camp this summer as the Boys Camp Director! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire with a degree in Broadfield Education in January of 2022. My most important goal for this summer is to have campers enjoy camp the way I have, and to create memories with new friends and with new experiences. Outside of camp I enjoy thrifting, anything to do with fish and frogs, hiking, and playing card and board games. I am very excited to have your campers experience summer at Camp Unahliya, see you out there on the loose.

Casey S.

Casey S. - Waterfront Director

Hey Camp Unie! Long time camper Casey S. here, and thrilled to be back as the Waterfront Director. As long as I can remember my favorite camp activities have always been on the water so I feel right at home in my new position. I am currently enrolled in the fire technician and emergency medical services programs at Fox Valley Tech so I work hand and hand with safety and water. I’m a big outdoors kinda guy canoeing down rivers, playing rounds of disc golf, or just simply throwing up a hammock on a nice sunny day. I’m certainly excited to infuse this summer with fun and energy and give back to the campers the wonderful experiences I got as a camper.

I helped work in the ACDC specialty area last summer, and can’t wait to be back as the specialty area director! I’m currently a senior at UW-Milwaukee majoring in Elementary and Middle Education. I love teaching and working with kids and, at camp, I love helping campers create unforgettable memories. I also enjoy live music, reading, camping, hiking, and being outdoors. I’m looking forward to another great summer at camp! I can’t wait to see you all out there on the loose!

Jackson M. - Watercraft Specialty Area Director

Greetings fellow campers, Jackson here!!! Last summer was my first year working at Camp Unie. Since then, I have made so many cherishable memories with my friends, and I’m excited to make a whole summer’s worth more. I am currently a Junior at UWGB working on a Philosophy major and a Mathematics minor. I enjoy making music with my guitar, working outside, and above all that, making a difference in people’s lives. My favorite thing to do at camp is to go canoeing out on the Ol’ Chute Pond. Whether it be to Jumping Rock or a cruze around Peterson Bay, I find water travel to be a great way to explore nature. I’m really excited about this summer and what great memories it will bring!! See you out there on the loose!

I led a couple of trips last summer including the Nor’Wester and I can’t wait to get back out there with you guys! I am currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota studying Youth Studies and Sustainability. Outside of camp, I love to hike, thrift, cook/bake, workout, read, and attempt random hobbies. I cannot wait to shred it up on the dance floor with all of you at camp dance (one of my favorite parts of camp) this summer! What’s up Camp Unie?! This is Hayden, and I am absolutely ecstatic to be a Trips Counselor this summer! Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya has given me so many memories, lessons, opportunities, and lifelong friends and I can hardly wait to spend another summer working at camp. I love being outside and meeting new people, and I am always down for an adventure. I love skiing, backpacking, camping, reading, running, hot dogs, and busting it DOWN at camp dance. I also can make a mean charcuterie board. I currently attend Michigan State University and spend a lot of my time with either the outdoors club, rock climbing club, or the ski club (I am also a telemarketer hehe). I am looking forward to a summer filled with lots of laughs, smiles, boogieing, exploring, sharing, growing, and trail food. See you guys soon!

Anthony H. - Trips Counselor

Howdy Campers!! This will be my second summer on staff, first on trip staff. I love all parts that the outdoors has to offer, but what I enjoy the most is pushing myself and the others around me in both mental and physical challenges. That is why I am pumped to be on trip staff this summer, because no better place to be challenged than out in the wilderness. I have experience from attending two NOLS courses as well as many trips to the BWCA, lead by my Dad (a Unie alumni). I am technically a sophomore in college but decided to take this spring semester off to work as a Lift Operator for the Winter Park Mountain Ski Resort. I was introduced to camp when was younger, and although I only attended a few summers I am glad I found my way back. I cannot wait to teach you guys all about comfortably surviving in the wilderness while having all the “type 2” fun!!

Emily T. - Trail Director

Hello camp Unie friends! My name is Emily, and I cannot wait to be back at Unie this summer!!! I have been coming to camp since I was 9 and have been on staff for the past 2 summers as a counselor and the Marksmanship director.  In my 11 years at camp the moments that I truly remember the most are the 3 trips I have done and I am beyond excited to be the Trail director and give campers the same experience I had as a camper on trail.  When I am not at camp I am currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay studying Elementary Education and I am a teacher at New Leaf Preschool/New Leaf Prep Academy.  I have worked with children 0-18 years old for 4 years and I love nothing more than teaching and seeing growth in a child, especially at camp! I love anything to do with music and theater and you will usually find me singing a song. At camp some of my favorite things are campfires, canoeing, overnights, and songs. My goal this summer is to have campers who are going on trips and overnights to have a safe and enjoyable time like I once did. I cannot wait for summer to come and have an awesome summer with you all. And I will be looking forward to our summer Out On The Loose!

I absolutely loved my summer working at Unie last year! The survival specialty area was specifically one of my favorites!
