2020 PORTAGE ON - SUSTAINABILITY CAMPAIGN
We hope this letter finds you all safe and healthy from what certainly has become strange and unusual times. Now, more that ever, Camp is in desperate need of funding after some incredibly unfortunate circumstances in back to back summers. As you may remember on July 19th and 20th, 2019 Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya was hit by severe storms causing over $1 million in damages, forcing the camp to close for the rest of summer. This year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we are forced to suspend resident camp for the first time in our 81-year history.
We are heartbroken to be unable to provide the camp experience for 4,000 area youth for the second summer in a row. Closing Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya and Camp Wabansi is not only affecting our campers and staff; camp is facing a serious loss in revenue unlike anything we have ever experienced.
Although Camp has weathered numerous unpredictable storms in years past, today we are compelled to turn to you an ask for support. If you are in a position to give, your gift will provide stability during these uncharted times. The support we receive in these coming weeks will help camp maintain it facilities, carry out our mission in the brighter days ahead and continue to serve future generations.
This has been a challenging time for everyone. We are fortunate that so many people believe in our mission, and we are grateful for gifts big and small to help carry us through this hardship-Portage On!
